2012 Tournament

The Sahan Pradep Withana Badminton Tournament-2012 is to be held on 2nd 3rd and 4th of November 2012 at Sendra Sports Center Indoor Stadium. This year the tournament is organized by Kadawatha Sports Club. In order to give chance to the members to emerge, the tournament is opened only for the members of Sendra Sports Center. Price monies and trophies have been arranged to be distributed among the winners. The application closing date is 30th October 2012. The draw will be on 31 October and available at the notice board on 1st of November 2012. 

Inauguration of the tournament will be at 2.00 PM  on 2nd November 2012 and matches will commence immediately after that.  The matches on Saturday and Sunday will commence at 7.00 AM and the award ceremony will be held at 6.00 PM on Sunday.

Sendra Sports Center - Kadawatha . Sri Lanka





                                     

Sendra Badminton Courts are one of the best maintained indoor stadium in the island.The center is situated in a peaceful area close to the city center away from the highway dust and mess, but easily accessible by private and public transport. Ample private parking is available with the center.

The architecture designed building and the simple but elegantly landscaped area creates a friendly environment. The design and the construction is of high standards and with ease of use for the  players and visitors.Play area of the two courts with semi sprung cushion baton wooden flooring, are of international standards adopted by WBF fro the maximum safety of the players. Lighting is in measured quantities in par with the standards of lighting for indoor sports facilities. Courts are well separated from the general traffic to protect from dust and ensuring maximum grip while in move.  Two well-lit spacious changing rooms create a pleasing environment.

The center is also equipped with a small cafeteria with refreshments and badminton requisites. Backup power generator can be considered as an added advantage for the uninterrupted play even during sudden power failures.

Current membership of the center is well over 400 gathered during the one and half year period in operation and growing continually. Several qualified couches are in attached to the  center guiding not only the young players but also the veterans.

Future plans of the center includes another court and a fully equipped air conditioned gymnasium along with table tennis and pool table facilities in the near future.
